Building Artist Joyce Gehl at Patricia Rovzar Gallery

Joyce Gehl, "the tingle of quirky ideas", 34 x 32
Forgotten Garden
June 6 - 30, 2013
Patricia Rovzar Gallery, 1225 Second Ave, Seattle WA 98101

Opening night June 6th, 6pm-8pm

Forgotten Garden is a collection of 15 works that compositionally explore the garden as a metaphor to life. Each piece speaks of the artists concept that by freeing up our lives from self-constraint and limitation, we become like an untended garden -- self-propagating, self-nurturing, and self-flourishing. Gehl's dreamy compositions are rendered with a highly polished surface, allowing for layers of encaustic wax to saturate her quiet, yet powerful palette of rich, earthy color.
